HERI Institute on Faculty Work/Life Issues August 12-13, 2014

The Higher Education Research Institute is pleased to announce the second annual HERI Institute on Faculty Work/Life Issues. This workshop, specifically tailored for academic administrators, institutional researchers, directors of Teaching and Learning Centers, and scholars who examine faculty work/life issues, provides participants with information on the latest research on faculty and how to use data on faculty to assess and improve teaching and learning on campus. This year’s workshop will include some hands-on analysis of the 2013-14 HERI Faculty Survey data, which is currently available for registration.

Specifically, the Institute will cover:

  • Current research on faculty retention and work/life
  • Using HERI Faculty Survey data to assess and improve teaching and learning on campus
  • The latest research on part-time faculty
  • Hands-on analysis of data from the 2013-14 HERI Faculty Survey

Led by HERI Director Dr. Sylvia Hurtado and CIRP Director Dr. Kevin Eagan, this intensive two-day program will also provide training on using the HERI Faculty Survey for institutional change and the improvement of faculty work-life issues. Participants also will learn from their colleagues in the field about strategies to assess and improve the campus climate for faculty
