Creativity at CIRP
I have the good fortune of working with an extremely fun and creative group of people every day at CIRP. My colleagues and the graduate students are always coming across amazing research, people, and ideas that we share around the office. As we were redesigning the Diverse Learning Environments Survey (DLE), we came across a fun way to help us visualize the survey and what it represents. We took the 2011-12 DLE and created a word cloud.
I think the impact is great, and I just love visualizing the survey this way, it helps me see the important themes the survey addresses clearly and cleanly, and I think that for many who are intimidated by blocks of survey items, a visual like this is a great way to start a discussion about what we mean when we are talking about campus climate, practices and outcomes.
