HERI at AIR Annual Forum
The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) Forum is one of our favorite conferences of the year! HERI will be out in force, with many of the HERI faculty, staff, and graduate students attending and presenting. There are 10 HERI-affiliated sessions, and an additional 4 sessions that we have identified as using data from the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP). We will have some special items to hand out in the booth this year, so stop by with your questions and comments, or just to say hello.
Speaking of CIRP, we are hosting a CIRP User’s Group Meeting on Monday (June 1) from 12:15 PM – 1:15 PM. Come find out what is new with CIRP, hear from some of your fellow CIRP Users, and have lunch on HERI! If you plan to attend, please help us get enough lunches by sending an RSVP to HERI@ucla.edu.
We have some great sessions lined up. Here are just a few highlights (all presentations are listed at the link at the end of the post).
HERI researchers working on the NIH/NSF Research Team will present “We Do Science Here:” Underrepresented Racial Minority Students in Different Contexts on Monday, right after the CIRP Users Group.
A HERI project on diversity will present The Climate for Diversity: Studying Student Perceptions and Experiences in the First Year of College (Tuesday).
Fostering “Habits of Mind in the First Year of College: Results from a National Study from researchers at CIRP will look at this relatively new set of questions on the YFCY (Wednesday).
We are very excited about our new CIRP Factors project, which is the topic of a session on Tuesday morning at 8:45 (it will be worth the early rise, I promise). Make sure to attend Analyzing the Student Experience: Item Response Theory Analysis and the Development of CIRP Survey Factors.
For one innovative way in which one campus uses CIRP survey data, be sure to attend The Innovative Use of the CIRP Surveys in a First-Year & Capstone Seminar Series from the University of the Pacific on Tuesday afternoon.
There are many more very interesting sessions! See the full presentation schedule at AIR here. We look forward to seeing you there!
