Surveys Open for Registration
Registration for the Your First College Year (YFCY) and the College Senior Survey (CSS) surveys is currently underway! Use the CIRP Web Portal to sign up for a survey, to manage your survey, and to receive your data files and reports.
The 2009-2010 CSS is ready for use now. Many schools choose to administer this survey during the spring, however the CSS is open now for your students. We are also pleased to announce that the CSS is being used in several national projects. First, the CSS is being administered in conjunction with the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) GOALS project, which aims to better understand the impact of the college experience on athletes and non-athletes. The CSS is also one of the instruments that can be used in the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA). New reporting provides a summary sheet of your institution’s responses to VSA items. Lastly, the CSS can be used to demonstrate compliance with the expanded reporting and disclosure requirements of the new Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA).
The 2010 YFCY is open for registration, and can be administered as early as March 1, 2010. This year the YFCY has a new feature for the web-based survey. As students begin the YFCY, they are asked if they are still attending the institution they began at in the fall. If they indicate that they are not, they are then directed to a brief set of questions about where they are now, why they left, and if they intend to return. This allows you to capture important information for retention purposes and link it to previous survey results to better understand first year retention. Currently this is only available as a web-based option, but if you plan to administer the YFCY on paper you can also use the paper and web option to send a separate request to those students you know have left.
Both the CSS and YFCY have enhanced reporting features, which you can read about here.
